The verse that stood out to me this morning was from Proverbs:

“Like a stream is the king’s heart in the hand of the Lord; wherever it pleases him, he directs it.”

At first I was thinking about kings and leaders, and how I generally find the opposite to be true. It sure seems like a lot of leaders want to direct things wherever they please.

But then I thought, what if I put my own name in there? Is my heart really in the Lord’s hands? Am I willing to let Him direct it where He wants it to go?

That tied right into the Gospel for me. Jesus says, “My mother and my brothers are those who hear the word of God and act on it.”

Not just hear it. Act on it.

I can pray every morning and ask God to show me His will, but then He may direct me somewhere I don’t really want to go. Maybe it is an uncomfortable conversation. Maybe it is something I have been avoiding. Maybe it is simply doing something I know I should do instead of what I want to do.

So my prayer today is pretty simple. Lord, put my heart in Your hands and direct it where You want it to go. Then give me the courage to actually go there.

I pray each of you receives the grace to hear where the Lord is directing you today and the courage to act on it.

Keep up the good fight.
