I Believe You

Yesterday, I was listening to a song by Megan Woods called I Believe, and one line stood out to me: “It’d be easier to doubt.” Boy, isn’t that the truth!

Then, while reading today’s Gospel, that line came right back to me.

Jesus tells us to be like servants who are ready and waiting for their master’s return. Always vigilant. Always prepared.

And that isn’t easy! It’s so much easier to get lazy, to doubt, or to get caught up in everything going on around us. Being a faithful servant takes work.

One thing I’ve come to appreciate is having brothers in Christ who help keep me sharp. We need each other. But we can’t fool ourselves into thinking that’s enough.

That’s where today’s first reading really comes together with the Gospel for me.

St. Paul reminds us that we are being built together into a dwelling place for God in the Spirit. And the psalm speaks of God’s glory dwelling in our land.

Think about that. God isn’t asking us to do all of this on our own. He has given us the Holy Spirit. God Himself dwells within us!

And yet, I still struggle to trust Him.

One of the things I prayed about this morning was my attachment to the future. I spend so much time thinking, planning, and worrying about what’s coming next. But maybe all that planning sometimes gets in the way of being the servant God needs me to be today.

There’s nothing wrong with planning. But I wonder if I’m spending too much time worrying about tomorrow instead of faithfully serving Him today.

Maybe being vigilant isn’t about knowing what’s coming next. Maybe it’s about being ready to do God’s will right now.

So my prayer today is simple. Lord, I believe You. Help me trust You. Help me slow down, recognize Your presence within me, and serve You faithfully today.

Are you so busy thinking about tomorrow that you’re missing where God is asking you to serve Him today?

I pray you get the graces you need today.

Keep up the good fight.

I’m praying for you. Please pray for me.
